I grew up in Oak Park, IL., Met my wife when I was 3 and she was 2. Her little brother burned his back by falling on the oven door and they needed a ride to the hospital. I have been heavily influenced by the Twilight Zone, which may be the greatest show in television history because it did more to challenge the way people form opinions about themselves and the world, than any other. I endevour to write with that end in mind. Among my other influences are writers such as Alan Watts, Joseph Campbell, Marilynne Robinson, C.S. Lewis (his prosaic works), Harper Lee, Shel Silverstein, Mary Oliver, Paul Davies, Wislawa Scymborska, David Foster Wallace (an interview I read of Wallace was what made me want to write), T.S. Elliot, Stan Lee, Somerset Maugham, Hemingway, …and so on. Mostly, I must admit, my mental life has been strongly shaped by cinema. And I especially gravitate towards those screen-plays which offer some insight into the mystery of our existence or at least into the mystery of other human beings and their cultures. I could make a list that would be unbearably long, but, I’ll just offer my top 5: 1. Fearless- with Jeff Bridges and Isabella Rossellini. 2. The Razor’s Edge- with Bill Murray 3. Black Robe- with Lothaire Bluteau 4. Housekeeping- with Christine Lahti 5. The Mosquito coast- with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. If you have not read my work, but are considering it, you might like to know that I write mostly with dialogue and only a hint of exposition. Also I like to keep things moving at a good clip, because I believe a good story teller has a sacred obligation to serve the story like a good meal, where every necessary ingredient is included and the presence the unnecessary is scrutinized with diligence.

Sedition by Tom Abrahams

Book Description

Sedition by Tom Abrahams

The Indie Book of the Day for 16th of February, 2013!

Genre: Action & Adventure, Political

The President of The United States is dead. There is no Vice President to take his place.

As the nation slips into a constitutional crisis, a small group of disenfranchised neo-patriots conspire to violently seize power. They have the will. They already have someone on the inside. And they have the explosives.

Standing in their way is a woman who listens to conversations not meant for her to hear. She reads mail not intended for her to see. She knows their intention. But can she stop them in time?

SEDITION is a smart, fast-paced, modern day political novel woven in reality and based on the 1820 British plot, The Cato Street Conspiracy.

It navigates the thin line between good versus evil and patriot versus traitor, proving there’s always a reason behind treason.

So if you like the realism and historical context of a Dan Brown thriller, mixed with research of a Tom Clancy novel…you’ll love SEDITION.

He has flown with presidential candidates, gone backstage at their rallies, and broken stories about them on television and online. He was at the Pentagon while smoke still rose in the hours after 9/11 and was in the room when Secretary Colin Powell made his case to the U.N. Security Council for war against Iraq. Tom lives in the Houston suburbs with his wife, Courtney, and their two children. SEDITION is his first novel.
