Would You Marry A Farmer? by Lorna Sixsmith

Book Description

Would You Marry A Farmer? by Lorna Sixsmith

The Indie Book of the Day for 30th of July, 2014!

Genre: Humor, Parenting

Wondering what life might be like married to a farmer?  Looking for ten good reasons to marry a farmer?  Wondering what would be the best chat up lines by a farmer?

Irish farmerette Lorna Sixsmith’s book ‘Would You Marry A Farmer?’ is a witty guide for anyone considering marrying or already married to a farmer. From a comparison of the farmer today to his predecessor, with complete instructions on how to find a good farmer, what you need to know when you start dating your farmer to tips on how to stay married to that farmer, it provides a realistic yet very funny look at life in farming.

Described as a ‘beautifully produced book’ by Ryan Tubridy, and a ‘rich story’ by Rich Rennicks of A Trip To Ireland, this is more than a humourous look at Irish farming.

Dee Sewell of Greenside Up described it as ‘capturing so much of what makes Ireland unique in a no-nonsense, honest to goodness fashion. If you’re looking to marry into the farming way of life or are just plain curious about what farmers do all day, you’ll be under no romantic illusions about this hard-working way of life once you’ve read the book.’

Lorna Sixsmith is a dairy farmer, wife, mum to two children, social media consultant, enthusiastic blogger and an author. She lives in SE Ireland on a dairy and beef farm. Her book ‘Would You Marry A Farmer?’ was inspired by her blog post entitled ‘Advice to those considering marrying a farmer’ which became hugely popular. Preferring to see life as a ‘glass half-full’, her take on marrying a farmer concentrates on the humourous side of rural life. ‘Funny, historical, reflective, realistic, tongue-in-cheek, a pleasure to read’ are just some of the terms used to describe her first book. Lorna used to be a secondary school teacher and now teaches businesses how to use social media effectively. She is also a co-organiser of Blog Awards Ireland.

Welcome, friend! As an actor and improviser, my writing experience stems mostly from the development of sketch comedy and theatrical plays. I currently live in Ferndale, a vibrant town located outside of Detroit. It’s where my first novel, Happy(ish), takes place.

I’m a two-time Peace Corps volunteer who worked in Africa. Oddly enough, I found the motivation to write Happy(ish) while gorilla trekking in the jungles of Western Uganda. I’m not bragging. It just sort of happened that way and I thought you, the reader, deserved the utmost truth. Also, if you ever get the opportunity to go gorilla trekking…go gorilla trekking!

When I’m not writing, or ignoring any thought of writing I’m probably making spaghetti and drinking tea. So heat up some chamomile, make a meatball, and download my book. Thank you!
