I am Lynn Landes, happily married mother of three from Lake Wylie, South Carolina. Thank you for reading my debut novel, “The Angel’s Covenant.” I have been writing poetry and short stories all of my life. In fact this book began as a poem for my husband for valentine’s day. It soon took on a life of its own and I decided to “follow the thread,” and take a chance. I hope you enjoyed the story.

I am a bookworm, no surprise there. My go-to bookworm happy place is an old library in a stately manor on a cold winter’s night. The wind howls as the storm whips snowflakes against the floor-to-ceiling windows and the soft drumming of interspersed rain on the window pane harmonizes with the old grandfather clock in the corner. With an old book in my hands, the pages smooth under my fingers, I snuggle up in an armchair in front of a roaring fire in a massive stone fireplace. The flames dance as they send their warmth to envelop me. Warming my hands on a mug of hot chocolate, I inhale in the small puffs of chocolatey goodness rising up, mixing with the air I breathe.

Have I ever been to my bookworm happy place? I’m afraid not. Something is always missing. Mostly the library in the stately manor. Occasionally the snowflakes, especially in summer.

Chris Sykes was born in York, England. Writing has always been his passion. Although it was not until a stray cat turned up on his doorstep – changing his life forever – that he actually wrote something he was happy with. His first book, The Most Ferocious of Creatures, is heavily influenced by that crazy cat. Time Travelling Dino’s: The Pilot is his second novel. Both books feature Chris’ witty writing style and his unique artwork.

The Greatest Blessings by Mark Isaacs

Book Description

The Greatest Blessings by Mark Isaacs

The Indie Book of the Day for 21st of March, 2015!

Genre: Children’s, Fairy Tale

Discover the critically acclaimed, classically written children’s chapter book that has kids everywhere asking …

Fame, Fortune or Power: Which would you choose if you could have only one?

Lords and brothers Fame, Fortune and Power decide how well all people will fare in life in the namesake realms of human desire they control. When they deem a woeful babe abandoned in a barn unworthy of any of their favours, the child grows up the lackey of a cruel farmer and his tormenting spoiled children. When he is old enough Boy, for that is the name used for him, runs away with the only friends he has ever known–the equally abused and unnamed Sheep, Cow and Horse–to seek a better life.

Years later, a quarrel among Fame, Fortune and Power over whose blessing is the greatest sends them, and their court jester Nobody, on a quest to find an unsullied party to settle their dispute. Boy seems the perfect candidate, but his unconventional views on what is valuable in life incite the lords and bring him to the brink of doom. Will he live? What happens to the lords? And is Boy right or does one of the lords’ blessings outshine the others? The future of mankind depends on the answer.

Hurrah! Huzzah! And Hip Hip Hooray! After many years in journalism, PR and education, I finally found my passion in short-story writing. I’ve had a number of shorts published in literary magazines and recently Lampglow Books published one of my faves, The Greatest Blessings, as a children’s chapter book, replete with 22 sumptuous illustrations. That’s a victory in itself. But what would be better is if the tale of the fabulous Lords Fame, Fortune and Power and the forsaken runaway named Boy they command to decide which one of their namesake favours is the greatest blessing sells a few copies!

Flying Girl by Robert Iannone

Book Description

Flying Girl by Robert Iannone

The Indie Book of the Day for 15th of March, 2015!

Genre: Children’s, Coming of Age

Egg and the Hameggattic Sisterhood is a  girl-empowering fantasy adventure series written for ages six through eleven. This is a two book edition containing Flying Girl and the prequel Rose’Alynnia.

Flying Girl (book 1)

Our story begins in Flying Girl when Egg (our heroine) is given a flying suit and three mysterious pieces of jewelry by her grandmother. Unbeknownst to either, with these gifts, a desperate plan, set in motion a thousand years before, on a planet a trillion miles away, begins its final chapter.

Rose’Alynnia

Nestled in the constellation Taurus, trillions of miles from Earth, is a group of stars called The Seven Sisters. One of them is Alcyone . . . home to the planet Aerianna. It is a unique world . . . populated with not one, but three, intelligent species – Humans, Dragons and Sea Serpents.

Under the benevolent rule of King M’earth, harmony, prosperity and tranquility are enjoyed by all his loyal subjects . . . be they creatures of the air, land or sea. Sadly, someone threatens the serenity of Aerianna. It is the King’s eldest daughter. The Princess Rose’Alynnia is beautiful, intelligent, resourceful and adventurous.   She is also a free spirit who simply refuses to abide by the rules.

The law of unintended consequences. Years ago, my son who was then in 6th grade, wrote a short story. I enjoyed it so much that I turned it into a novel. I then wrote a sequel at the request of the kids who read the original story.(Trouble at Soaring Eagle is available on Kindle).

In the sequel I named a character for a neighbor’s 9 year old girl and said she was boy crazy. When her mother read the story to her she cried. She hated boys. I felt bad and asked what I might write about to make her smile. She said the girl, Eloise, liked to fly in her dreams.

The next day I began Flying Girl, the first book of what would eventually be a 12 book serial called Egg and the Hameggattic Sisterhood.

I never expected to publish my work. I kept writing because Eloise and other girls her age kept reading and enjoying the stories.

The storyline evolved over time. The first 6 books, written for 6 to 10 year olds, tells of Egg (the initials of my heroine) and the flying suit and mysterious jewelry given to her by her grandmother.

The last 6 books chronicles Egg’s journey to the mythical planet Aerianna to save that world from the evil Mobius. It is there she meets dragons, sea serpents and a host of other characters. These books are 2 to 3 times longer than the first six and are better suited for 8 to 10 year olds.

Egg’s adventure is all good, clean fun and based on experience with friends and relatives, a great series for moms and grandmothers to read to their child or grandchild.

Since I finished the first series, I have written a prequel to the series titled Rose’Alynnia, a second 4-book adventure called Zynn-Zaz’zia and a third adventure entitled The Serenity Deception. The series concludes with a three book set called Sisterhood’s End.

Thank you for your interest.

For thirty-eight years he worked globally in IT, games and mobile communications business, mostly in Finland, U.S.A and Japan. During his business career he always had a dream to write books. This dream came into reality late 2010 when his first book was published. 2014 has been the year of Children’s books. His 2 first illustrated Children’s books in English were published in February (“Lucy The Cat”) and April (“God’s Children”). Both are available as paperback in Amazon, Barnes& Noble and other web stores and as Kindle e-book in Amazon. Dostoyevsky and Jane Austin, but he loves also J. K. Rowling, and The Holy Bible always influences him. Pertti’s main sources of inspiration are his 4 lovely grand children, 2 boys and 2 girls, and the charming, cute Sacred Birman cat. You guessed, she is Lucy The Cat. And of course the world events have their impact in life and sometimes also in writing. Pertti’s favorite hobbies are music, reading, movies, photography and traveling.
