Mary Filmer is a much loved grandmother of three beautiful grand children who lives in Perth, Western Australia. She has two grown children and a loving husband Frank, who support her in her writing. Most of the time she lives on a Cherry Farm in the country side of Western Australia, which is near a little town called Katanning. Due to her health problem she has had to spend a lot of time in the city of Perth in Western Australia. She has been successfully fighting cancer for the past few years, which has not managed to slow her down at all. She has been an active member of the community throughout her life, volunteering at the children’s hospital and promoting fire safety to children. As well as her writing, Mary has won many awards for her craft and art at different shows throughout Western Australia. Mary has worked in school libraries with children for over 30 years. While working for the Western Australian Fire Brigades , as an Educational Officer overseeing the Fire Safety for children in the state, she received the inaugural Fire Service Member of the Year Achievement Award for her outstanding work with children. Mary received congratulations from the (then) Minister, Assisting the Minister for Women’s interests (Dr Judith Watson, MLA) for her work educating children and the community about fire safety, and her work on the Juvenile Arson Programme. Books which she has had published are: Fire Fighter Pat Educational Safety Book, Farmer Frank Educational Fire Safety, Poetry and Story Book, Mystique of Billydine and Emergency 000. She has also written a children’s column for a newspaper for several years, but her first love would have to be writing fiction and fantasy. Some of her educational books, which include an educational manual, are still used in the Australian primary school curriculum. She looks forward to publishing more children’s books.
