War is hell. Captain Chris Braddock has learned this lesson through hard experience, but nothing can prepare him for the savage fighting of southern Afghanistan, where every step could be his last. A sudden tragedy forces the young staff officer, already struggling with his own personal demons, to confront his worst fears and assume the mantle of an infantry commander in one of the most violent places on earth. As he fights the slow unraveling of his own humanity, Braddock must still find a way to defeat the invisible enemy hiding amongst a hostile population, and do it while bringing all of his soldiers safely home.
